C banding
<molecular biology> Method of defining chromosome structure by staining with Giemsa and looking at the banding pattern in the heterochromatin of the centromeric regions. Giemsa banding (G banding) of the whole chromosome gives higher resolution. Q banding is done with quinacrine.
